THE CHALLENGE

One truck, fixed dimensions

Every Roadie gets the same truck. Dimensions are locked for the Challenge — head to the Case Sheet to see it already flat-packed and ready to go.

This is the Truck Pack Challenge. Truck count and dimensions are fixed so every Roadie plays the same game.

CASE SHEET

Every case, already flat-packed

Every case is fixed for the Challenge. Nothing needs to move here — head to the Truck Packs tab and start stacking rows to the roof to free up the Manager's 32′ 5″.

Packable cases0
Total weight0 lb
Invalid Cases 0
Fast entry: This page is only for entering each case's basic information — Case Number, Case Description, Side 1, Side 2, Height, Weight, and Wheels. Enter the two base case measurements as SIDE 1 and SIDE 2; TruckPacks determines truck Width and Length only after orientation. Row Number, Orientation, and Resting Side are set later, per case, in the Pack view, and rows are locked there too, one at a time from the nose backward — a locked row is like a new floor level. Every complete case can be stacked in the Actual Truck, as long as it doesn't hit the case beside, behind, in front, or the roof, and the only rule is a case can only be stacked on a locked row.

CASE SHEET STATUS

INVALID CASES

INVALID CASES counts named cases that TruckPacks cannot currently use as a valid packed case.

A case can be invalid because required dimensions are missing, a locked row does not mathematically fit, a stack assignment is incomplete or impossible, the stack would exceed three cases high or the truck roof, or another required geometry rule is not satisfied.

Fix the highlighted case row and the count updates automatically. Blank new-entry rows are not counted.

TRUCK PACKS

UNDO / REDO SHORTCUTS

While you are on this Truck Packs page, ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) undoes the last pack change, and ⌘X (Ctrl+X) redoes it.

Both only work while your cursor is not inside a text field, so cutting or undoing text you are typing still works normally everywhere on the site.

TRUCK PACKS

STACKING TIP

If you want a case to snap perfectly into a spot, don't try to line it up exactly. Slightly overshoot the corners in the direction you're dragging it, and TruckPacks will pull it back to sit flush against both edges.

This concept also applies to dropping cases when you're making your bottom rows.

L2 overshoot is fine
BEFORE DROP — overshoot the corner while stacking
L2 SAME SPOT
AFTER DROP — snaps flush on top, exactly in place
CASE FILE IMPORT

PREPARE A SIMPLE CASE LIST

UPLOAD CASE FILE is a fast way to bring the basic case inventory from an existing spreadsheet or PDF into TruckPacks. It is intentionally limited to the information that is easy to know before you start building the truck pack.

REQUIRED FOR EVERY CASE

CASE NUMBER is the case identifier you use on tour. SIDE 1 and SIDE 2 are the two base measurements. HEIGHT is the vertical measurement. WEIGHT and WHEELS may be included if you have them, but neither is required.

Important: every case row must contain CASE NUMBER, CASE DESCRIPTION, SIDE 1, SIDE 2 and HEIGHT. If any case row is missing one of those required values, TruckPacks will stop the import and ask you to correct the source file. Weight and Wheels may both be blank or omitted entirely.

Recommended workflow: duplicate your existing spreadsheet, rename the useful headers to the names above, delete unnecessary columns, then upload the cleaned copy. That can save a huge amount of repetitive case-entry time.

DO THE FUN PACK DETAILS IN TRUCKPACKS

If your file has a WHEELS column (values like Wheels / No Wheels / Casters), choose MY FILE WILL DETERMINE when uploading and TruckPacks will read each case's Wheels setting from it directly - any row it can't read is set to No Wheels, so you can double-check those after import. Otherwise, choose one Wheels default for the whole list instead, and flip the exceptions afterward. Either way, don't add Hot Dog / Hamburger, tip preferences, Row Number, Row Lock, or other pack-specific settings to the upload file - every case can be placed on a locked level in the Actual Truck once it's on the Case Sheet.

Extra columns in an existing file can be ignored, but a cleaned copy containing only the fields above will usually produce the best result. TruckPacks always shows an Import Review before adding anything to the Case Sheet.

BASIC CASE IMPORT

UPLOAD CASE FILE

1

PLEASE READ

Upload a spreadsheet or PDF containing CASE NUMBER, CASE DESCRIPTION, SIDE 1, SIDE 2 and HEIGHT for every case. WEIGHT and WHEELS are both optional. Stacking, tipping, orientation and row choices are deliberately set later inside TruckPacks.

2

CHOOSE WHEELS OR NO WHEELS

Choose the option that applies to most cases in this file, or let TruckPacks read a Wheels column straight from the file itself. TruckPacks applies your choice to every imported case; you can go through the Case Sheet and change any exceptions after import.

3

UPLOAD A FILE

No file selected.
CASE DIMENSION

Select dimension

Choose whole inches and the quarter-inch fraction. This keeps the Case Sheet fast without loading thousands of choices into every cell.

CASE DIMENSIONS

WHY SIDE 1 & SIDE 2?

To avoid confusion about whether a road case measurement should be called Length, Depth, or Width before it is loaded, TruckPacks calls the two base measurements simply SIDE 1 and SIDE 2. Height is still the measurement from the bottom of the case to the top.

Once the case is placed in the truck:

WIDTH is the measurement running left-to-right across the truck when you are standing inside the truck looking toward the nose.

LENGTH is the measurement running from the rear of the truck toward the nose.

Side 1 is always the longer footprint side—the Hamburger Front/Back face. Side 2 is always the shorter footprint side—the Hot Dog Left/Right face. Imports are reordered automatically when those two values arrive reversed.

TruckPacks converts Side 1 and Side 2 into truck Width and Length according to the orientation actually used in the pack. Side 1, Side 2, and Height are selectable in ¼-inch increments.

ROADIE TRUCK PACK CHALLENGE

You thought you'd get away with an easy flat pack?

Nice try! The manager says he needs exactly 32′ 5″ of extra space on that truck. Here's your challenge…

You're going to have to stack it to the roof!

ROW 1

  • Move the entire P2, P5, P3, and P6 row to the Actual pack and LOCK ROW.
  • Move the entire DR1, DR5, DR6, and DR3 row to the Actual pack and stack each case on top of the P cases.
  • Stack DR4, DR2, P1, and P4 individually on top of the previously stacked DR cases.

ROW 2

  • Move the entire BV1, GV2, GV1, and GV3 row to the Actual pack and LOCK ROW.
  • Move the entire G2, G3, B1, and G1 row to the Actual pack and stack each case on top of the GV and BV cases, as close to the nose of the truck as possible.
  • Spin the 2 GIC cases 90 degrees, then stack them on top of BV1/GV2 & GV1/GV3.

ROW 3

  • Spin GTWB1 & BTWB 90 degrees, then individually move them to the Actual pack. Also move GTWB2 to make the bottom level of Row 3, and LOCK ROW.
  • Stack KBV1, KBV2, and KBV3 on top of the BTWB, GTWB1 and GTWB2.
  • Stack KBC1 & KBC2 on top of the KBV cases.

ROW 4

  • Move the 4 remaining KB cases to the Actual pack to make the bottom level of Row 4, and LOCK ROW.
  • Spin the 2 PB cases 90 degrees and stack them on top of the KB cases, as close to the nose of the truck as possible.
  • Spin BL1, BL11, and BL10 90 degrees, then stack all the BL cases on Row 4.

ROW 5

  • Move the entire D5, D6, and D4 row to the Actual pack and LOCK ROW.
  • Move the entire D2, D3, and D1 row to the Actual pack and stack each case on top of the bottom-level D cases.
